Staycation
You're savvy, environmentally aware, and have already figured the gas bill to leave town saps some of the joy of the trip. So, the new term is "staycation". Stay in Lafayette and explore the local treasures rather than driving north and south on 65. You've told us that Artists' Own is a local treasure where you find rare and original art with prices much less than big city galleries. Our display artists have just completed a great new summer look -- so make AO your first stop on your staycation!

Sara Vanderkleed creates colorful, artistic shopping bags that you will be proud to use and reuse. Some AO customers are using them as gift bags! Very clever -- give a gift, put it in a SV bag and save wrapping paper!

“Bringing It Home”
AO Member, Sara Vanderkleed is one of 3 artists bringing a unique approach to raise awareness of orphans and at-risk children and families. Laura Greene and Heather Vanderkleed along w/ Sara proposed the exhibit as a response to the stories and photos from a Sunrise Church group who traveled to Peru , South American for a week and worked with Buckner International. Sara chose the theme of hope amidst darkness for her series of acrylic paintings. The exhibit will open at TAF during the Downtown Gallery Walk on Friday, August 1 6:00-10:00 pm and will end September 6. Heather Vanderkleed and Laura Greene are the other 2 participants and will show their quilting and sculptures in the same exhibit. A portion of the proceeds from sales at the exhibit will be donated to Buckner International.
